Mr. Dussault practices in all of the areas included in the firm's practice. He is actively involved with numerous state and national groups concerned with legal issues impacting persons with disabilities. He has served as counsel to The Association for the Severely Handicapped (TASH) and was Vice-Chair of the American Bar Association Family Law Committee on Mental Disability. He just completed a two term membership on the Board of Directors for the Brain Injury Association of America (formerly the National Head Injury Foundation, is a member of the Professional Advisory Board of the Autism Society of America and is the founding president of the Washington Chapter of the National Association of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA). Mr. Dussault has served as an adjunct professor at the University of Washington School of Law and the School of Nursing on Nursing, Law and Ethics. He has served as a legal advisor to the National Association for Retarded Citizens (NARC), the Autism Society of America (ASA), the Epilepsy Foundation of America, and numerous state advocacy organizations including those representing seniors who experience Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases.
He was the originator of the Special Needs Trust used in Medicaid planning for the elderly and the disabled. He is a frequent presenter at local and national seminars and symposiums on issues related to coordination of public benefits and private assets, and served as a faculty member at Emmanuel College, Cambridge University, England, International Institute on Head Injury and the Law. He has been included as one of the top 150 lawyers in Seattle by Seattle magazine, one of the top lawyers in Washington State by Washington Law and Politics and was awarded the 2003 Butch Blum award as one of the four most influential lawyers in Washington.
