Stacy Gillett is a special education teacher by training and has worked for the past 15 years with attorneys who specialize in disability law, assisting families and children with special needs. She previously worked at the Disability Law Center of Alaska for 8 years, managing a statewide advocacy caseload.
Ms. Gillett serves on a variety of nonprofit boards and committees to address the needs of individuals with disabilities. She is well known in our state for her advocacy work in the areas of special education and developmental disabilities. She has presented on a wide variety of special education topics to parent groups, teachers, and other education professionals and has been a guest speaker at WSTLA Teachers Law Conference, University of Washington and Seattle University Law School classes and teacher training courses. She coauthored "A Legal Guide for Families and Educators" found on the OSPI website, and has contributed to numerous articles for national conferences, public information brochures, newsletters, and manuals.
